Music and Mending Workshop
Collaborating with local indie folk-rock band Shed for an evening of MUSIC and Mending. You will be able to learn Sashiko stitching - a traditional Japanese embroidery technique often used to repair clothing. As a method of Visible Mending, sashiko adds decorative durability to clothes that are worn and torn. This workshop is part of Creative Colchester's First Thursday's Festival. Hosted by the Three Wise Monkey's on Colchester High Street…you will be guided through the process of sewing a geometric sashiko pattern whilst listening to the wizardry of Shed!

You will be shown how to sew a sashiko patch that can be used to repair an item of clothing. Please do not bring clothes that may require specific repairs …for example a zip that needs fixing, a ripped leather jacket, a torn button hole…Sashiko is a Visible Mending technique that is not intended for repairing something ‘like new’.
