Climate Conscious Craft Experience
Immerse yourself in a day of climate conscious craft activities! Through repair and re-use, the premis of both workshops is about reducing textile waste AND taking time to experience the meditative stillness that can be achieved during the process of stitching. You will learn some basic hand embroidery stitches and how to repair threadbare favourites through Visible Mending. Throughout the day there will be opportunities to find out more about textiles in relation to the climate and a gentle introduction to some inspirational climate conscious craft movements.
Take some time to enjoy Reclaim:Reborn - an exhibition that is one of the events scheduled as part of the Manningtree Earth Festival. Featuring Art and items made from reclaimed or recycled materials, it will be an opportunity to see work from in house Artist Sam Luxford, owner of Navistitch and the workshop facilitator Vikki trading as Mae Kandoo.
If actively taking time out feels indulgent or even wrong, then you are very much encouraged to book! In a world of immediacy that measures productivity, taking time and being slow is like raging against the machine!!!! Except it isn't… you can fully engage in slow, mindful stitching and feel empowered to take up arms (darning needles!) and begin to cultivate a lifestyle where repair and reuse is celebrated! The option to book both workshops at a reduced rate has been organised as a special offer that marks the end of Manningtree’s month long Earth Festival!
Full info, including location, parking and access to the Sail Loft is available on the individual workshop pages.
